2003 Jan. SHAPE Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Jan. 6, 2003  ... CNW TORONTO

The launch of SHAPE at Avenue and Davenport and its impact on the city of Toronto are taking the health and wellness industries by storm. In an unveiling ceremony this evening, SHAPE rolled out the next wave of its intense marketing campaign highlighted by a 24 foot billboard at Avenue and Davenport to match the hype created by 480 daily appearances on the highest resolution big screen television in the country at the Eaton Centre.

Next week, SHAPE will celebrate its grand opening by donating an enormous pile of toys and donations to the children at the hospital. One of the special guests joining in the celebration will be Michael Seccareccia, a young boy who survived his battle with leukemia and was able to return to playing competitive hockey and make his school volleyball team with the help of one of SHAPE’s founders, Dr. Sender Deutsch.

Dr. Deutsch, SHAPE’s director, had a great deal of success in treating Michael. Robert and Roseanne, Michael’s parents, credit his recovery in part to the physical therapy and conditioning that Michael experienced with Dr. Deutsch. Michael will ceremoniously accept the huge pile of toys and donations that SHAPE, along with our corporate sponsors and individual guests, will build for the children at Sick Kids Hospital.

SHAPE’s competitive advantage stems from the background, education and paths taken by its founders. Dr. Deutsch is a certified chiropractor, acupuncturist, strength and conditioning specialist, and personal trainer. He has trained and rehabilitated amateur and professional athletes in the NHL, OHL, and NCAA. SHAPE’s other founder, Jonathan Ruben, a CA as well as an American CPA, runs a successful accounting practice in Toronto.

He has provided financial and tax guidance to NBA athletes and high profile personnel in the television and movie industries. Moreover, his financial and tax advice has been shared with the public via appearances in various media including local and national newspapers and television.

According to Deutsch, "SHAPE will be Toronto's first truly integrated boutique health and wellness centre and will be providing a world of treatments comprised of a multitude of disciplines all under one intimate roof". He adds that "the facility is very upscale and will serve as host to the city's premier athletes, entertainers, entrepreneurs and other eclectic clientele".
Ruben feels that "SHAPE will be much more than a typical health and wellness centre. It’s an idea whose time has come and a lifestyle that Torontonians are ready to embrace".
