Born in London, England, Maurice's first passion for sports was soccer. Maurice has lived in various places such as Newfoundland, Nunavut, as well as Northern Saskatchewan (Indian Reserve) where he was introduced to hockey, baseball, football, as well as Arctic sports like the 'single leg high kick'.¯

Working in the health and fitness industry for over five years, Maurice received his BSc in Kinesiology and Health Sciences at York University, becoming a Certified Kinesiologist through the Ontario Kinesiologist Association.

As well, Maurice has obtained his Can-fit Pro Personal Training Certification. The phrase 'being like water'¯ is a concept in which he believes strongly.

Maurice is furthering his education in acquiring certification as an Exercise Physiologist (CSEP). His next goal is to study alternative medicine, specifically Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). While volunteering at the Ontario March of Dimes, he worked with children who have Cerebral Palsy. This experience focused on the prevention and reversal of the inability to coordinate motor function, increase flexibility and ROM. Maurice's theory regarding training follows this simple principle that if a person is not one with their own body, how can they endure the physical and emotional demands of everyday life?

As a Personal Trainer, he hears questions such as, "How do I use the machines?" His initial reply is that once you know how to use your body, you'll be able to use any machine,  and then he proceeds to teach, guide and inspire.

Additionally, Tuan holds a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do with experience in martial arts training and has competed in several US competitions.

Tuan graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology and went on to complete his Masters in Physiotherapy. Our Clients Say

ImageThrough years of sports and competitive dance, I've had numerous chronic injuries.  I visited physiotherapists, massage therapists and acupuncturists, but not until SHAPE did I recognize a remarkable difference. It's almost unbelievable how accurately they made the diagnosis and performed appropriate treatments.  I am so thankful to be free of some of the pain I had for years. If there’s such thing as miracle workers. Shawn & Sender are it!. The fact that they follow up the next day with a phone call or an email speaks volumes for the service!
