Ron Castro

Ron Castro BPHE, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist

Ron graduated from Sutherland-Chan School & Teaching Clinic. Prior to that, Ron graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Physical Education and Health.

At the University of Toronto, Ron focused his studies on exercise physiology and athletic conditioning and gained valuable experience through his sports medicine placements. Ron has worked extensively with a wide range of athletes including the varsity rugby, swim and wrestling teams. While at Sutherland-Chan, Ron continued his passion for working with athletes by specializing in sports therapy massage. He continued to work with athletes from all levels of competition and from varying sports, such as dancers, tennis players, golfers, tri-athletes, cyclists and basketball players. Currently, Ron is taking the appropriate steps to attain his Sports Massage Therapy Certification.

Along with sports massage, Ron did his final year placement at Lyndhurst and worked extensively with clients with varying levels of spinal cord lesions and used his skills as a massage therapist to help clients along with their rehabilitation. Ron demonstrates further versatility in his skill through his work with cancer, cerebral palsy, cardiovascular disease and pregnant patients.

Ron’s treatment approach is a simple one. It is to find the cause and treat the cause. By using clinical assessment tools and asking the right questions, Ron likes getting to the root of the problem so that clients can make a speedy recovery. Ron also feels that education is a fundamental key to client recovery. By allowing clients to understand their injury, they are more empowered to take a course of action to help them heal - and even more importantly, prevent the injury from possibly reoccurring.

Ron enjoys the team concept of helping restore a client’s health by working with the chiropractors, physiotherapists and conditioning specialis's. It is principally for this reason, Ron is excited to be a part of the SHAPE team.
