Tuan Ho  BSc (Hons.), MScPT, DAc, CSCS
Registered Physiotherapist
Acupuncture Practitioner
Conditioning Specialist

Tuan’s journey into the world of fitness and sports training began early in high school. As a member of the wrestling and football team, he realized the value of sport specific training and utilization of the SAID principle (Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demand). His approach is that in order to enhance performance, specific exercises need to be applied to addresses specific weaknesses (e.g. power, strength, agility, speed, etc.). Additionally, Tuan holds a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do with experience in martial arts training and has competed in several US competitions.

Tuan graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology and went on to complete his Masters in Physiotherapy. Tuan has had extensive experience in working with patients in the acute care and hospital in-patient setting dealing with orthopedic and cardiac post-operative care, in addition to working with patients with neurological impairments e.g. strokes, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injuries, etc.

Tuan is also accredited by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has completed the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program.

Tuan’s experience in orthopedic rehabilitation and training ranges from working with adolescents to patients in their 80’s and 90’s. He has a strong foundation in dealing with acute and chronic low back and neck pain, repetitive strain and rotator cuff injuries, in addition to all other musculoskeletal and neurological impairments that may occur from everyday and/or recreational activities.

Tuan’s philosophy in rehabilitation is simple: concise assessment allows for precise detection of the root to the problem. Treating the cause and not the symptom equates to quicker recovery. Incorporating strength training to weak muscles and ensuring adequate flexibility to tight muscles will reduce the chances of future injuries or re-injuries. Balance and harmony in life is the key to healthy living. With Tuan’s diverse background, he will be able to create a tailor-made rehabilitation and fitness training program specifically for you, regardless of your fitness level, or lack thereof, and medical background. Let Tuan help you achieve balance and harmony with your body.

Tyler Welch MScPT, BSc(CEP), CSCS
Registered Physiotherapist
Conditioning Specialist
Exercise Physiologist

Tyler was driven towards a career as a physiotherapist by his life long passion for sport, exercise and performance. Tyler spent eight years of his life training for and playing high level Club rugby in Toronto. During this time, he won three city championships, competed at OFSAA twice and won an Ontario Rugby Union Under-21 Championship. Tyler continues to focus on training hard in the gym and is progressing very well in the discipline of Muay Thai kickboxing.

Tyler began his post-secondary education at Concordia University, where he received a Bachelor of Science specializing in Clinical Exercise Physiology. While in Montreal, he gained experience as a Kinesiologist in multiple domains. He developed physical activity programming for children with special needs at Montreal’s Mackay Centre and for a summer camp at the Montreal Association for the Blind. He also gained experience designing and supervising exercise programs for seniors while working at a cardiac rehabilitation program and at a community centre for seniors.

Tyler then moved back to Toronto where he received his Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto, acquiring a vast amount of training in orthopedic and sport physiotherapy while treating both hospital inpatients and outpatient clients. Tyler has also gained experience as a physiotherapist in other venues ranging from cardiac intensive care at Sunnybrook Hospital to outpatient rehabilitation for individuals with neurological conditions such as Stroke and Multiple Sclerosis at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. Additionally, Tyler has a wealth of knowledge in the realm of strength and conditioning and is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Tyler’s style of therapy is a mix of both manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilization and myofascial release, along with active therapy where he uses specific and individualized progression of exercises to restore function, prevent re-injury and/or optimize performance. He has experience in numerous areas such as overuse injuries (eg: tennis elbow or rotator cuff tendinopathy), disc herniation, post-operative care (eg: joint-replacement or ligament repairs), sacroiliac joint (SIJ) dysfunction, back pain, whiplash associated disorders, weight loss, return to sport training, ligament sprains and muscle strains. Tyler believes that there is no textbook presentation of an injury or condition and therefore, no standardized treatment protocol. As such, he feels that to effectively manage his clients’ needs, treatments must be individualized, with special attention given to his client’s personal goals, abilities and time constraints. Tyler’s career as a physiotherapist has been the most rewarding experience of his life and he takes great pride in helping his clients to get out of pain and back into their lives.

Our Clients Say

ImageThrough years of sports and competitive dance, I've had numerous chronic injuries.  I visited physiotherapists, massage therapists and acupuncturists, but not until SHAPE did I recognize a remarkable difference. It's almost unbelievable how accurately they made the diagnosis and performed appropriate treatments.  I am so thankful to be free of some of the pain I had for years. If there’s such thing as miracle workers. Shawn & Sender are it!. The fact that they follow up the next day with a phone call or an email speaks volumes for the service!
